Team Isabella - Helping in the fight against childhood cancer Welcome Home Her Story Contact Apparel Updates 2016 Updates 2015 Send Belle Some Love Everything that is done in the world is done by hope. Donations On March 20, 2015, at age 6, sweet little Isabella O’Brien was diagnosed with stage 4 Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma. Rhabdomyosarcoma is a relatively rare type of cancer that develops from the connective soft tissues. As of now there is no known cause for this type of cancer. It was not caused by genetics, the environment, or anything she did. Her diagnosis was made after her family noticed a large softball sized “bump” in her left buttock. This type of tumor is very aggressive so it had grown significantly in just one week. After a multitude of tests, her doctors at CHOP found that it had spread to her left femur bone. Because of that Isabella has to be extremely careful not to run or jump or else she risks fracturing her femur. Isabella will require 42 weeks of chemotherapy which she started on March 28 and will also be receiving Proton Therapy around week 13.
